Three tasters; one pod brewed black as an 8 oz serving in a Keurig K-Mini, with no milk, creamer or sweetener. This was an informal, nonblinded tasting. The panel’s preferences are subjective, not a measure of health benefits.

The Darker-Roast Alternative
Four Sigmatic was the closest stylistic competitor to Peak among the pods.
It still tasted recognizably like coffee, but its darker roast produced a noticeably different profile.
Our tasting notes: Darker, more roasted and somewhat more bitter through the finish.
We appreciated that the mushroom component didn't overwhelm the coffee.
However, when all three were consumed black under the same brewing conditions, our panel preferred Peak's smoother profile.
Someone who strongly prefers dark-roast coffee could reasonably feel differently.
What stood out
